Loans are available to women residing in Colorado, who are high school graduates or have earned a GED and are actively working toward a degree or a certificate in any MLHELF Committee approved education that culminates in a degree or associates degree or certificate from a vocational or a technical school.
Only active clubs of the GFWC Colorado may sponsor a Borrower. If someone is interested, give them a Brochure or Direct them to this website first.
Your Club and/or president may be contacted by local women who are interested in receiving a loan. Please make sure to meet with and establish a connection with these women as your club will be responsible for keeping the MLHEF committee up to date.
When a club decides to sponsor a Borrower for a loan with MLHEF, the following needs to be done:
1) Select three sponsors from the club who know the Borrower.
A. Such sponsors may not be the Borrower.
B. Sponsors will act as a liaison between the Borrower and the MLHEF Committee.
C. Sponsors are not responsible for paying off the loan.
2) Complete the Club Contract (there is a link on this website if you choose to complete it online), please contact your district representative for the proper paperwork (if you choose to complete a hard copy).
3) Provide and Review with the Borrower the Loan Application, and Borrowers Instructions.
4) Be sure the Borrower completes 2 copies of the Application. The club should be sure to stress to the Borrower that after she is approved for a loan, a Master Loan Agreement and a Social Security Form will be sent to her to be signed by her and (2) two Guarantors and that all signatures must be notarized. Guarantors are also referred to as co-signer and agree to pay off the loan in case the Borrower defaults.
5) Once the Borrower has completed her application, (either on paper or online) and your club has completed your club contract, please reach out to your MLHEF district representative to be sure all paperwork has been received. .
6) A Copy of the Application and Club Contract should be retained by the club for its records (if submitted online please ask your district representative for a copy).
7) Keep in touch with the borrower and report to the District Representative any changes in Address and Phone #’s prior to the two annual MLHEF meetings each year at the CFWC Convention and CFWC Summer/Fall Board of Directors meetings.
